Enjoying Holidays in Lanzarote
The Canary Islands are located just off the coast of Africa. And enjoy a semi-tropical climate – making them an ideal holiday destination all year round.
As a result the islands have become a real hot favourite with visitors from sun starved Northern European nations such as the UK and Germany, attracting around nine million foreign tourists every year.
Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the islands. With a much more arid and barren terrain than the larger, lusher islands of Tenefire and Gran Canaria. This is due to the fact that Lanzarote is located just 100 miles or so away from the western fringes of the Sahara Desert and experiences very little rainfall – around 9mm per month.
But that’s not to say that the island is lacking in beauty. As Lanzarote boasts a great many natural wonders such as the surreal scenery of the Timanfaya Volcano Park as well as a host of great beaches – close to 100 in fact.
